This is just a very short post, but i had to persist the info somewhere :)

As many people that are using Twitter, I am using TweetDeck to manage the information overload. One of the many usefull features of TweetDeck is that you can add a search column to your view. Many DotNetNuke tweeps are using this feature to filter on everything that is tweeted about DotNetNuke. This is done by adding a search column in TweetDeck, and using this as search term:

DNN OR DotNetNuke

Mind you: it is important to use OR in uppercase, in lowercase it will not be recognised by the search functionality

I found it a bit annoying that my own tweets ended up there as well, so i started to look at a solution for that. Of course, the backend service that TweetDeck uses is http://search.twitter.com. I started to look around in the advanced search options and there is an option to exlude tweets with specific words from the search results. I entered my own Twitter account name (which is erikvb), and indeed, i got results with my own tweets filtered out (of course, also tweets in reply to me would be filtered out, but thats not a problem as replies to me turn up in another column in tweetdeck). The syntax of excluding words from search results is similar to that of Google:

 DNN OR DotNetNuke  -erikvb
